President Moon declares Carbon Neutrality on the December 19th

 On the December 10th, president Moon appealed to cut back on greenhouse gas use before it's too late. He presented carbon neutrality to reduce greenhouse gases emitted domestically. Carbon neutrality is a state in which greenhouse gases emitted by human activities are reduced as much as possible, and the greenhouse gases are absorbed or removed so that actual emissions are zero. According to the Paris Climate Agreement and decision of the 21st National Conference on Climate Change,  all of the concerned countries must submit 2050 Long-term Low Carbon Development Strategy until 2020. 

UN said that for the human race survive, on average, Earth's temperature rise has to keep under the 1.5℃.. So it should be carbon neutral by 2050. President Moon made a speech which declare 2050 Carbon Neutral Vision. He said climate crisis will bully the poors first like Covid-19, then it will make all humans life painfully. Also he said our government already have drastically reduced coal power generation, increased renewable energy, and made efforts to diffuse green cars. 

 

 

President Moon's speech had Conversion of the main source of renewable energy, creating an Ecosystem of low Carbon Industries, and fair transition without alienation for overcoming the climate crisis, economic growthm and improving quality of life. Cheongwadae said that they are preparing the long-term Low Carbon Development Strategy which has 2050 carbon neutrality goal and the plan for it. They will decide it by cabinet meeting, then submit to UN.  Also there was a special happen. President Moon's speech was broadcast in black and white. Cheongwadae said that carbon emissions increase compared the video's image quality, so they emphasized importance of Carbon Neutrality. President Moon said, "We can save the Earth and change the lives of our neighbors and our children through small actions in our daily lives. Before it's too late, let's start right now.
