Bumgye M.S 30205 Chae Hyeon Kim

The scientists in the South Pole seems to be having a scrumptious meal. In the South Pole Sejong science station, the scientists finally gets to grow and consume fresh vegetables. Now, they can grow Chinese cabbage, lettuce, chilli, tomatoes, cucumbers and pumpkins. This is all thanks to the new plant farm which is being sent in almost 10 years. It is anticipated that this change will nourish the scientists as they couldn’t eat vegetable for a while.

The new plant farm is bigger than the original and it has technology that ables it to grow plants with seeds. The farm can grow 1.5~2kg of vegetables a day if full-fledged. It uses LED as the artificial light to cut down on energy waste and it is designed to control the light intensity by growth and development. The Rural Development Administration says they’ll send an expert as soon as they can and give more information on the plant farm to the scientists in the Antartic.
